“STARS FOR STRIPES” PROVIDES CELEBRITY ENTERTAINMENT TO DEPLOYED TROOPS
OVER 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAYS
NASHVILLE, TN -- America Supports You member, “Stars for Stripes” provided
celebrity entertainment to troops deployed to Italy, Kuwait and Iraq over
the recent 4th of July holidays.
“Cowboy Crush”, the hot, new five-female Curb-Asylum country group
traveled to Italy to perform for troops and their families at Camp Ederle in
Vicenza (near Venice), Camp Darby in Livorno (near Pisa), and NAS Naples.
The performance at Camp Ederle was on the same stage where a couple of weeks
ago Lee Ann Womack performed as part of a “Stars for Stripes” tour at
the Welcome Home Celebration for troops deployed this past year to
Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. On the 4th of July, a
special performance took place by the high-energy group on the seashore at
the American Beach. Ernest Beezley, the Community Recreation Division Chief
for the area thanked the girls for donating their time and said, “It was a
great show. The level of performance was the best ever had”. The final
performance at NAS Naples coincided with Italy’s competition against France
for the World Soccer Cup. Spirits were high and the girls “firecracker”
performance added significantly to the festive mood of the Americans and
Italians in attendance.
Top 5 American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra and OSB who was
recently voted as Best Band, Best Album of the Year, and Best Male Vocalist
by Pulse Magazine 2006, journeyed to Kuwait and Iraq to deliver personal
messages of appreciation and entertain the troops deployed to those areas.
Jessica and OSB performed one show at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait and four
performances in Iraq at FOB Sykes in Tal Afar, Victory Base in Baghdad,
Balad AB in Anaconda, and Al Asad AB west of Baghdad. The tour was a huge
success by all standards. The troops, both male and female, came, listened,
danced, and enjoyed in large numbers. In Baghdad on the 4th of July, the
feeling was intimate, outdoors in a town square setting, like a hot summer
night back home in the US. The soldiers responded heartily to both acts with
applause and cheers and the long line for autographs at the end of the show
was a wonderful sign of the troops’ appreciation.
At Al Asad, when Jessica Sierra asked everyone to stand while she sang her
version of God Bless America, you could feel the goose bumps crawl up your
arms. Navy, Army, Marines, and Air Force personnel were in attendance and
once again the autograph line stretched out into the lobby while the
performers stayed and signed until the last person was satisfied.
Judy Seale, President of “Stars for Stripes” and Nashville’s based “Judy
Seale International, Inc.” noted, “While it’s important to provide celebrity
entertainment to the troops deployed overseas throughout the year, it is
especially meaningful during holiday periods. The entertainers on these
tours donate their time and for them to be away from their families and
loved ones during the holidays to go overseas and visit the troops is
greatly appreciated by the men and women serving in our Armed Forces. I
donate my time and my staff’s time to produce these tours. I had hoped to be
able to produce at least eight tours in 2006. With celebrities already
committed to participate in Stars for Stripes tours at Thanksgiving and
Christmas, we’ll finish the year with a total of 10 tours in support of our
deployed troops, definitely exceeding my expectations.”
