"Warriors in Transition" Many of you are familiar with the wonderful facilities for our wounded heroes at Walter Reed Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Center in the DC area. However, you may not be aware that many of our vets are being treated here in Tennessee at Ft. Campbell. As one who visits the hospitals for our wounded with various celebrities on a regular basis, I can tell you from personal experience how much these visits mean to them. I wanted to make you aware of the facilities at Ft. Campbell and encourage you to arrange a celebrity visit when the opportunity presents itself. A dear friend of mine who was severely wounded in Iraq says it much better than I ever could. Please take a moment to read his words below and I hope you will support our "Warriors in Transition" at Ft. Campbell in the future.
I don't know if I
need to put this in any kind of "official" format, but we would
like the "celebs" to just come and "grip and grin" or sign
autographs if they want. They can come and visit anytime between
0730 and 1630, Monday thru Friday. It is weird, but for some
reason when "celebs" come visit and say "thank you", it means a
large difference in the "Warriors in Transition" recovery/state
of mind. They feel that a "celeb" visiting them makes what they
are doing that much more important and the "civilian" sector
respects and appreciates them more. I can try and help you as much
as possible but our Outreach person is listed below. He will be
the coordinator for these visits and could help you out with any
other "information on the logistics piece". Please feel free to
contact him. He is aware of what I am trying to do and is more
than willing to help. Let me know what else I can help you
with. Thanks again for your help with this and what you do for our
Servicemen and women. SSG Josh Forbess
