"I Have Had The Honor"
I've had the honor of entertaining our troops in foreign countries on two different tours.
Every time we perform for an audience of military personnel, we get the same comment later in the autograph line--""thank you for taking the time to come all the way over here to entertain us."" To be honest, it's almost embarrassing to hear that. It's us that should be thanking them for the freedom to be able to do something as trivial as sing songs for a living. So when asked why it's so important to take entertainers to foreign countries so that they may perform for our troops stationed there, I can only say this: It's important that those who fight for our freedoms see that those freedoms are alive and well. Bringing a little bit of home to those brave men and women is the least we as entertainers can do to say thanks for their dedication and sacrifice. And if the entertainer gets a chance t o perform on one of these tours, I guarantee that they'll walk away with a new appreciation of the freedoms that they may have previously taken for granted.
