"My daughter was 20...."
My daughter was 20 when she enlisted
in the Air Force 1 1/2 years ago. She is now stationed at Balad Air Base in Iraq. What a wonderful woman she has become. I am so PROUD of her and all who have that special calling to join the armed forces. THANK YOU to all. My husband is in law enforcement and so we are somewhat familiar with daily worries, but her being in Iraq has given that an entirely different prospective. We are very grateful for the e-mails and phone calls that we get. She tells me that she is happy and that what we are doing over there is making them a better life. She is very appreciative of the fact that we have so good over here in the US. Chely's song really hit home. As we were taking Jenee up to Chicago to ship out, there was a letter to the editor of our local paper regarding the magnets and how with having those told everyone that we support the war. As we were driving, I penned my own response. I received several notes regarding my!
letter which stated that it was ironic that as we were driving her to ship to Iraq that this letter appeared and that we did have the magnets and we had questions, but WE SUPPORT OUR DAUGHTER and all who are in the armed forces. I thank them for doing there job, like law enforcement, it is thankless. But I want all of the men and women serving that I thank you and I appreciate and realize your sacrifice. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. - Jackie Slayback, Air Force Mother
