"I was reflecting back to this time"

I was reflecting back to this time

of the year when I was in Iraq missing my family, my friends, and all the amenities that we Americans have. Often times I found myself thinking about how much Iraq sucked, how I hated to walk in the middle of the night in mud that seemed like cement to get to the bathroom, or how the next sound of mortars/gunfire may be my last. I was amazed at what I take for granted every single day. Morale this time for me last year was at an all-time low, as it was for so many of my war fighting brethren.

There was one thing that helped keep us going while deployed, and that was each of you. I was in a war zone because I raised my hands 18 years ago to defend my country. You all were there, risking your lives, not because you had to but because you wanted to. You took the time to personal thank us for what we were doing and then you helped spread the word upon your returned about what was happening and how we were helping a country learn to be free and independent. The sacrifice you made by leaving your families to visit us will never be forgotten.

I wanted to send out a personal thank you to each and everyone one of you who made this sacrifice. You kept many-a soldiers going.

Happy Holidays to you and your families. May the new year bring you much happiness and joy!

Forever grateful,
Belinda
